About us
Fifteen years ago, my partner Katherine and I (Rotsen) left Venezuela and arrived in London, immediately falling in love with its eclectic food scene. Inspired to share our Venezuelan cuisine and culture, we launched Petare in 2014. Our goal was not only to celebrate our rich culinary heritage but also to bring the Venezuelan community together and provide a space for our children to connect with their roots.
We quickly found success in the street food scene. From the outset, Petare secured numerous culinary competitions and established semi-permanent spots in some of London's most renowned street markets, including Hawker House, Dalston Yard, Hawker Union, and Pop Brixton.
Our presence expanded to mobile units at festivals, pop-up restaurants, and corporate events.
After securing awards at Kerb's Bucket List in 2017 and 2018, and Wingfest in 2019, our guava-glazed fried chicken became incredibly popular. This triumph led us to launch a new venture focused solely on Latino fried chicken: El Pollote, which we opened at the Seven Dials Market in 2019.

In July 2023, we reached another milestone by successfully opening a restaurant on Carnaby Street, a testament to our growing influence in London’s culinary landscape.

Now, with El Pollote's remarkable success in both the street food and catering industry and our thriving restaurant, We are excited about the next step. As we continue to expand, I'm thrilled to invite you to visit us at our newest location on Carnaby Street. We are eager to bring our unique flavors and vibrant dining experience to this iconic destination, confident that El Pollote will become a beloved part of the local culinary scene.
